John D. Kirwan, 78, of Middleton, Massachusetts. passed away peacefully on October 29, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Mackey Funeral Home in Middleton. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 10:30 am at St. Agnes Church in Middleton. Burial immediately following the funeral at Oakdale Cemetery in Middleton.

John was born in Watertown, New York on May 20, 1941. He graduated from Watertown High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Northeastern University, Boston, Mass. John was married to the love of his life, whom he met in High School, Brenda Joyce Coppola, of Watertown, New York on August 24, 1963, at St. Anthony’s Church; they were married 56 years. John worked in the Tech industry for several startups, including running his own company, Calidus Systems, eventually retiring from Sybase Inc. as Director of Elite Tech Support in 2006. He enjoyed traveling with Brenda and loved spending time with his whole family, including his twin grandsons. He was a resident of Middleton for over 40 years, an active parishioner at St. Richards Church in Danvers, where he was a lecturer and taught CCD for eight years, and at St. Agnes Church in Middleton, where he prepared many meals for Bread & Roses alongside his wife. John was an avid Notre Dame football and Boston sports fan. John is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda J. Kirwan of North Andover, his daughter, MaryElizabeth Kirwan of Peabody, and his son, John M. Kirwan and wife Kristin E. (Braunlich) Kirwan of Wilbraham, Mass., and his grandsons, John T. Kirwan and William M. Kirwan, both of Worcester, Mass. John is preceded in death by his parents, Terrance Kirwan and Harriet (Kiley) Kirwan of Watertown, New York, and his brother Terrance Kirwan of Syracuse, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family of John D. Kirwan wishes to thank Wellspring, North Andover, Hathorne Hill, Danvers and Care Dimensions hospice in Danvers for his outstanding and compassionate care.

John and Terry were friends of my brother Joe Puccia , as well as with my family at their favorite store.... The Gotham St. Market. Dear Brenda and all the family, Bill and I are so saddened with John passing.
