She moved from Colorado and lived in West Peabody since 1963, where she raised her five children.

In the early 1960's Jackie was active in city politics and in Oct 1966 was a co-organizer of Peabody's "International Night" which was heralded by then-Mayor Edward T. Meaney as the highlight of the Golden Jubilee in Peabody. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in caring for her home, dining out, camping, playing the slots at Foxwoods and travel which included many trips to Colorado, New Hampshire and Maine, Germany, Austria and Ireland. She was also a foster parent in the 1950's to two babies. She was an avid Patriots Fan.
