Betty A. (Gilbert) Fossa, 87 June 28, 1932 - June 29, 2019

Mrs. Betty A. (Gilbert) Fossa, 87, of Beverly, MA, died peacefully early Saturday morning, June 29, 2019.  She was the beloved wife of Richard W. Fossa, Sr., with whom she shared 65 years of wedded bliss.  She was born in Beverly on June 28, 1932, the daughter of the late George and Marjorie (Thompson) Gilbert.  She was raised in Beverly and graduated from Beverly High School.  Mrs. Fossa was employed for many years in the Beverly school system as a cafeteria worker. She was the matriarch of the family and her husband, children, and grandchildren adored her. She was happiest spending time with her family. She could often be found enjoying the concerts at Salem Willows and Lynch Park, when she wasn’t cooking for her family. In addition to her husband, she  leaves behind her daughter Terry Shepherd and her husband Bruce of Beverly, her son Richard Jr. and his wife Donna of Beverly, her daughter Cynthia Frusteri and her husband Robert of Beverly, her son William and his wife Lisa of Peabody, her grandchildren Alyshia Kelleher and her husband Daniel, Justin Shepherd, and Drew and Alex Fossa.  She also leaves her brother George Gilbert and his wife Lorraine.  She is predeceased by her sister Louise Menesale and her husband James. Funeral arrangement will be private. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or alz.org.
