Obituary:

Mrs. Joanna “Jackie” (Rosato) Aleckna, of Peabody, beloved wife of Conrad J. Aleckna, passed away Sunday October 28, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in the city of Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Lopilato) Rosato. She later went to Fitton Catholic High School for her schooling. After high school she was a secretary for a state representative in East Boston before meeting Conrad Aleckna, getting married and having two wonderful children.

Jackie enjoyed cooking and baking for her family on the holidays. Christmas Eve was one of her favorite times of the year. She enjoyed traveling around the United States as well as internationally, including Italy. Jackie often was visited by her grandchildren, Bethany and Nicholas, who she supported through all their interests. She thought the world of them, often laughing and sharing stories in her living room. When visiting the home in Peabody, Jackie often could be found to be outside gardening during the warm New England months with Connie by her side. She even went as far as feeding the neighborhood birds, and enjoyed the doves that came in pairs to the birdfeeders.

In addition to her loving husband, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage, Jackie is survived by her daughter, Adrian of Peabody; her son, Conrad Jr. and his wife Sheryl (Peachey) Aleckna of Middleton; her beloved grandchildren Bethany and Nicholas Aleckna of Middleton; her sister, Rachelle (Rae) Mcdonough of Peabody; cousin Frances (Frankie) Kamlot of Lynnfield; nephew Sean and his wife Lisa Mcdonough and their children Emily and Christopher of North Andover.

The family is grateful for the condolences; in lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
