Mrs. Carol Ann Prouty of Boxford, Mass passed away in her sleep at home on Sunday August 12, 2018 at the age of 77 after a long history of breast cancer.

Carol was born to parents Thomas and Helen Donovan on January 28, 1941 in Cambridge, Mass. She was a graduate of Stoughton (Mass.) High School in 1956 and Brockton Hospital School of Nursing in 1958.

Carol married Kenneth A. Prouty, Jr. in August 1971. She worked as a nurse at Boston-area hospitals and as a visiting nurse at Haverhill Home Health.

Carol was an avid tennis player and spent many hours tending her gardens. She enjoyed golf and bridge and hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail with Ken. Carol also traveled to Maine, New Hampshire and Ireland compiling extensive genealogical information. She was a 46-year member of the Congregational Church of Topsfield.

Carol is survived by her husband, Ken; her sons, Thomas Herdan of Minden, NV, Douglas Prouty and his wife Ann of Danvers, MA, and Jeffrey Prouty of Boston, MA; her brother, Russell Donovan of Roseville, CA, and her sister, Mary Ellen Korda of Houston, TX; her two grandchildren, Chance and Georgia Prouty of Danvers; and, 4 nieces and 4 nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Jane Donovan.

Carol was always upbeat, a positive influence on all those she met. A common description of her was that she never had a bad day. She will be missed.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Meetinghouse at the Congregational Church of Topsfield on Wednesday, August 29th at 11am.

The family is grateful for the condolences, but in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to The Congregational Church of Topsfield.
