Barbara A. (Green) Carroll, 82 of Beverly, MA passed away peacefully on January 18, 2018, at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, MA surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of the late James J. Carroll to whom she was married for 51 years. The daughter of the late Harold and Theresa (Peterson) Green. She was born in Boston on Jan. 12, 1936, raised in Beverly and attended St. Mary's Catholic Schools. She worked at Borah’s as a waitress in high school. It was there that she met her husband, James. J. Carroll. Barbara was a devoted wife, exceptional mother and a very talented craft person all of her life. In addition to sewing, knitting and several other crafts, her greatest passion was oil painting and the family has many examples of her wonderful talent on canvas. She even did a beautiful painting of the Virgin Mother when she attended St. Mary’s High School. She was a very energetic woman, starting her day before sunrise and ending it well after midnight so she could carve a little time for herself to paint. Barbara was an extremely kind, compassionate and truly humble woman. She always put the needs of her family and others before herself. Barbara suffered a devastating stroke in the year of 2000. She lost her ability to speak and the use of her right arm, right hand and eventually the right side of her body. She was a resident of Care One at Essex Park for the last 14 years of her life. The family is eternally grateful for the dedication, love and the care that she received there. She lived in many places and worked at the Cedar Glen Nursing Home in Danvers, MA, Managed The Hartwell House in Ogunquit, ME and was a professional nanny in Washington, DC. She is survived by six of her eight children and their spouses. Nancy Carroll of Peabody, MA, Linda Carroll of Centralia, IL, Barbara Medeiros and her husband Paul of Waltham, MA, James Carroll and his wife Mary Beth of Falls Church,VA, Joyce Runser of Portland, ME, and Mary Cronk and her husband John of Strafford, NH and her son-in-law, Allan Maclellan of York, ME; Her 18 grandchildren: Andrew Zuk, Allan Iain MacLellan, Mary MacLellan Fulmer, Elizabeth MacLellan, Douglas MacLellan, Paul Medeiros, Angela Medeiros, Jessica Medeiros, Michael Carroll, John Cronk, Katherine Cronk, Alexander Runser, Bridget Runser, James (Jay) Carroll, Erin Carroll, Addison Carroll, Justin Carroll, and Krystal Carroll; Her 8 great-grandchildren, Joselle Zuk, Sophie Zuk, Jacqueline Fulmer, Juliet Fulmer, Paul Medeiros, Mia Medeiros, Madison Medeiros, Lyla Medeiros and many nieces and nephews; Her four siblings: Joyce Picarello of Beverly, MA, Rita Hood and husband Richard of Chino Valley, AZ, Patricia Mitchell of South Bend, IN, Paul Green and Pat Wienburg of Salem, MA; Her sister in law Mildred (Mckinnon) Tweed of Peabody, MA. She was predeceased by her daughters Susan MacLellan of York, ME and Janet Carroll of Salem, MA; Her brother Dr. Harold Green of Battlecreek, MI.

Visitation on Wednesday, Feb, 7th, from 9:30am - 11am at the Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St., Middleton, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at noon in St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish, Conant St., Danvers, MA. We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Barbara. The obituary so eloquently described the character and content of Barbara’ heart and soul.
