William R. Hayward, 77, of Middleton passed away Monday, April 25, after a brief illness. Bill was born in Needham and was the husband of Beverly (Mann) Hayward with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage. He was the son of the late Nathan and Muriel (Hoelzel). William was a veteran of the Army Reserves and also of the National Guard. He completed the Radiology Technician program and worked at Lawrence General Hospital and soon after was employed at the Clover Hill Hospital. The radiologic career was short lived when Bill decided to work for Avco-later turning into Textron as a Non-Destructive Test Technician. After retiring from Textron he found great joy in working at the local Richardsonís Ice Cream. Bill loved fishing and he also loved spending time with his family and traveling with his beloved wife Beverly. He was a member of the Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers. That isnít the only place Billís time was spent, he was a Mason with the Merrimack Valley Daylight Lodge AF & AM located in North Andover and served as a Master at the former Grecian Lodge. Aside from his wife, Bill is survived by his 3 children Kevin P. Hayward of Middleton, Debra J. Savosik and her husband Ronald of Florida and David A. Hayward and his wife Keri of Georgia; also leaving his grandson Zakary Savosik, his sister Barbara Morgan and her husband Clifton of Maine, and his cousins Bernice Casey and Frank Twiss.

Aunt Bev, Kevin, Deb and David, we were so saddened to hear of the passing of your dad, our Uncle Bill. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Dear Aunt Bev, Kevin, Deb and David I am so sorry to hear about uncle Bill. He was a nice and caring man. I remember when ever they made peanut butter cup Ice cream he would bring me out a cup of the crushed candys because he new how much I loved it. He will be missed. Beverly, Wayne and I were so saddened by the news of Bill's sudden death.
