Robert W. McGowan

Robert W. McGowan went happily home to God on April 18, 2024 when he died surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Catherine M. (Chisholm) McGowan. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret M. (McGowan) O'Rourke and his brother Thomas F. McGowan, Jr. Bob graduated from Boston High School, St John's Seminary College, Navy Officer Candidate School and the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He was employed for many years at Raytheon Company. He served in the Navy and was a retired Navy Captain and veteran. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish in Danvers.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary (Grady) McGowan with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Also survived by their 6 children and their spouses: Mary Beth and Michael DiFilippo of Bridgton, Maine, Nancy and the late Peter Usalis of Danvers, Anne and Michael Landers of Danvers, Robert and Meghan (Carlin) McGowan of Marblehead, Susan and Jonathan Dirks of Danvers, and Jane and Jim Kress of Winthrop. Also survived by his beloved 14 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

All services will be held at St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish, Conant St., Danvers. ( see below ).
