Anna McGann, 80, of Kennebunkport Maine and Naples Florida died on February 18, 2016. She was born in Dorchester, MA the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Toland) Houton. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Education from the State Teachers College in Boston. Anna taught for most of her career at the Miles Standish School in Quincy and also at the McCormack school in Boston. Anna was a volunteer reader at the Perkins School for the Blind. Before meeting Val McGann she moved to Falmouth, MA and opened a charming shop selling Irish woolen goods and handmade children's clothing.
Val and Anna married and lived in Florida and Maine for many years where Val had studios. He is a Marine artist and Anna was a devoted wife and energetic promoter of Val's seascapes of the New England shore and Ireland. Our dearest Anna is survived by three brothers: John Houton and Dr. Ellen Kantor, Thomas and Donna Houton and Daniel Houton; and two sisters Catherine and Dr. Joseph Benedict and Roseleen and the late George Pyne. Anna was predeceased by her baby Terrence and two siblings, Patricia and Charles. She admired and loved her many nieces and nephews. Burial will be private.
