Philip O. Frederickson, 98, husband for 67 years before the death of his beloved wife Edna (Scharffenberg) in 2011. Born in Beverly in 1917, he was the son of the late Knute and Nannie (Anderson) Frederickson. He was a lifelong resident of Beverly.
Mr. Frederickson was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1935. He worked at the United Shoe Machinery Corp. for 42 years as a machinist. He was a member of the “Quarter Century Club” of the United Shoe. Spent three years (1942-1945) in the Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate for the “Lighter Than Air Division” (blimps) of the Navy Air Corp. The blimps escorted the supply and troop ships from Canada to Key West.
As a young man, he was an avid golfer at the United Shoe Country Club. he enjoyed gardening, yard sales, and hiking in the woods of NH. His greatest joy was spending summers with his family at their cottage on Rust Pond in Wolfeboro, NH since 1960.
Surviving him is his son, Philip K. Frederickson of So. Hamilton; his daughter, Sally E. Frederickson and her companion, Donald Robinson of Middleton; his granddaughter, Tammy Lee Frederickson of Beverly; his nephew, David of Germany; and his niece, Pat Howard of North Conway, NH. He was also the brother of the late Roy Frederickson. He will be greatly missed by his family, his caring neighbors, and everyone who knew him.
