To the entire Mackey family and Jedd, Such a tremendous loss, I am so sorry. When I interviewed Rachel in late August for a story for the newspaper she had such a light about her - I was inspired when I left our interview and hoped in my heart she would be ok. She had a glow around her - like an angel. And from reading everyone's messages it is clear she was indeed an angel to many and now will be watching over everyone she touched. I didn't know Rachael long & it was a long time ago. But that doesn't matter because she just had that thing that makes you never forget her, happily. She will certainly be one of the brightest stars in the sky. My deepest sympathies for your loss. -A lucky friend
I never met any of you but had a couple emails back and forth with Rachael with regards to her treatment choice as my son was a patient of Antineoplastons for a long time. I am deeply saddened for your loss and wish the best for all of you. I have been in contact with many people/families who where considering going to Houston for treatment but Rachael was one of a kind. Her positive attitude and high spirits shined like something I have never witnessed before. Most people default to the opposite when they are dealt cards like she was. So know that Rachael is a continuing inspiration to me, my son and a lot of people I have shared her with down here on the south coast. I am completely blessed to have even heard about Rachael. Our prayers continue for her and your family just as they did from the day we met her a few weeks ago. God Bless you all. Phil Norton
Vinnie, Kathy, Holly, and Andrew – My deepest sympathies goes out to you all. Rachael was my first friend when I moved to West Street, and met the “West Street Gang”. Her smile and laugh were infectious. When we were young, I remember synchronized swimming routines in the pool, neighborhood tag, Horribles Day parades, pickup bball games, and so much more. As we grew older, I enjoyed hearing about her adventures to other countries, and the success she was finding in the fashion and modeling industries. She was an intelligent, bright spirited, courageous, beautiful young woman, and most importantly she was nice. She was a “Rae of Sunshine”, and she will be missed dearly. – Hillary Tutko

Jedd, Thank you for bringing Rachael to Long Island. She was an amazing young lady with a pure zest for life. I feel lucky to have known her. But, even luckier to have seen the two of you face her illness with such strength, determination and team work. No team could have done a better job facing such an uphill battle. No stone was left unturned. You comforted, cajoled, researched, nurished, doctored, and nursed her. You never left her side. Little did you know the massage, facial, flowers and walk in the Gulf would be preparing her for heaven. You are an incredible young man. God Bless you, your family and the Mackey family with strength in this time of need. ~ jinny Greene
